Dear Parents,
It is a very short week this week! I hope everyone has a
wonderful and safe Thanksgiving!
Here is what we are doing in class this week:
Reading: This week we will be taking our next test. On
Monday we will take our test and on Tuesday we will go over the test. It will
focus mainly on Main Ideas and Key Details as well as some language concepts we
have learned. There will be no spelling or reading log for this week. Students
are still encouraged to read every day this week though!
Math: This week we will be continuing our Word Problems
Unit. We will focus on multiple step division problems and will review
estimating. We will have no math homework for the week!
Writing: This week we are finishing our opinion writing by
writing about if we should eat turkeys for Thanksgiving or not. This is due on
Tuesday November 22nd, the last day before Thanksgiving Break.
Students will type this and put it into myaccess.com for a score.
They should know how to do this. They have their username and password glued
into their planner.
Science: With a substitute, the students will watch a Bill
Nye the Science Guy video about Rocks and Soil. They will also review a little
bit about the water cycle.
Social Studies: This week in social studies we will continue
to talk about recreation in Utah. We will work on our PowerPoint presentation
of our favorite recreational activity in Utah. We will also study our Counties.
Our first County Quiz will be on December 1st and 2nd.
Quiz 2 will be December 7th and 8th. Quiz 3 will be
December 13th and 14th. The final test will be on
December 19th for my class and December 20th for Mrs.
Ditto’s class. Answer keys for each of these quizzes and tests will be posted
on my blog as well as links to help students study for them: http://mrswheatleysfourthgrade.blogspot.com/
This week’s homework:
Study Counties and County Seats
Thanks!
Mrs. Wheatley
