September 14-18th

This week in reading we are going to continue talking about inferences. We will take an assessment on Friday to see how students are doing at making inferences. Our spelling this week is Sort 4. These words all have an ending on them. Some words will need the last letter before and ending doubled, some will need the ending e dropped, and the rest of the words need nothing else done to them before adding the ending. Again, students need to be doing 20 points worth of activities and turning them in on Friday. Also, don't let your student forget to fill out their reading log each week to turn in on Mondays. Lastly, if your student has any missing spelling work or reading logs, please have students turn them in ASAP. They will become 0s 2 weeks after they are due.

This week in writing we are starting our next unit. We will be writing How Tos. We will pick something that we are expert at to write about. It must have at least 3 materials needed and 5 steps to it. We will only be working on this assignment for this week and next. If students did not finish their Personal Narrative, it is their responsibility to complete it and turn it in to me. Many, many students have not turned this in yet. I will be putting their grades for that assignment up on Skyward soon.

This week in math we are finishing up our factors unit. We are learning what multiples are, the difference between prime and composite numbers, and talking about number patterns. Our test for this unit will be on Monday. I will send students home with their pretest as a study guide on Friday so they can study for the test. We will also begin doing homework from our math book. Students will be ripping out each day their homework from their Go Math Practice Book. I will not be able to give any extra copies of their math homework when they come from their book. However, if you need another copy, you can get those online. There will be an instruction sheet coming home with students on Wednesday describing how to get to the math book online. Student's login is their Skyward with out the @alpinesd.org at the end and the password is gomath.

This week in social studies we will be talking about the different landforms that are in Utah. We will also discuss the different regions that are in Utah and where they are.
