This week in writing we are working on opinion pieces. We will be reading articles and forming opinions on them. These will be very similar to our persuasive essays we have been writing. We will be using the articles as our evidence and reasons for our opinions. Also, if your student did not finish typing and sharing with me on Google Drive their PJ Day Letter, please make sure they do this so I can give them a grade for this assignment.
This week in math we are finishing our equivalent fractions unit. We are working on comparing fractions and ordering them as well. We will be taking our test on this unit on Friday. In Target Time we are going to be working on place value.
This week in social studies we will be talking about how different people and cultures came to Utah. Students will be assigned to do a genealogy project to identify how they got to Utah. Students will be given a sheet with instructions, and they will need to write a paper and draw on the map provided to tell and show how they, or one of their ancestors first came to Utah. This will help students connect with what we are discussing in class about how different people got to Utah. For my class this assignment will be due on January 23rd. For Miss Goldsborough's class it will be due on January 26th.
