April 10-14th

Dear Parents,

I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe Spring Break! It’s hard to believe that there are only 7 weeks of school left! I’m so proud of how hard everyone worked on their SAGE writing test before Spring Break. We have great writers in our class!

Here is what we are doing in class this week:

Reading: This week we will be testing. We review on Monday for our reading test and then we will take the test on Tuesday. We will go over the test and read a Reader’s Theater for the rest of the week. Our homework is a vocabulary review list with science review words. It is a big list to review all the important science words from this year. Students should still be spending 20 minutes studying their words this week. They should also be reading 20 minutes a night and filling out their reading logs.

Math: This week we will be reviewing for our decimals test and then we will take our decimals test. After that, we will take a review test reviewing all the things we have learned this year. This will let me see what students remember or still understand, and the things that we need to review some more before the end of the year. Lastly, we will begin our last unit of multiplying fractions.

Writing: This week we will be writing the lines to our plays. The AMs have chosen to do Cinderella and the PMs have chosen to do Beauty and the Beast. Each reading group will be writing the lines to one scene of the play with me. We are so excited about this!

Science: On Wednesday the students will take their last science unit test of the school year on Utah environments. They took a practice test in class today in preparation. The next few weeks in science the students will review concepts we have discussed and learned this year. At the end of the week, students will be working in groups on some practice S.A.G.E science test questions.

Social Studies: This week in social studies we will be learning about producers, consumers, goods, and services. We will share what we learned about ghost towns and learn what communities need to be able to survive. Then we will create our own communities using what we have learned. Don't forget about our Native American Homes Project! This will be due April 21st. It is a really fun project that family can help out with!

This week’s homework:
Read 20 mins each day and fill out a pink reading log
Vocabulary Words Unit 5 Week 6 – 20 mins study
Lesson 9.7-P183, 9.5-P179, Chapter 9 Extra Practice P185-186
Native American Homes Project Due April 21st
*Math, reading, and spelling are due on Friday

Thanks!
Mrs. Wheatley
