Dear Parents,
Last week we started working on our last SAGE tests of the
year. Thank you to all of those who sent their student with a note of
encouragement! It was so sweet watching them read their notes from you, and I
know it really made a difference! If you haven’t written a note to your
student, feel free to for our last tests this week. It really means a lot to
them to know that you care and are just encouraging them to do their best. Last
week we went over our SAGE scores from last year. We made goals to do better
than last year individually and as a class. So far students have been doing
wonderfully! They have done amazingly on their science tests! I’m so excited to
see how their Language Arts and Math tests end up! We will be finishing our
Reading test on Tuesday during reading time. We will take our Math test on
Wednesday during reading time as well and finish it during math on Thursday.
Also, the end of the term is coming up very quickly! All
missing assignments need to be in by next Monday, May 15th. Please
make sure your student gets any missing assignments in by then. If your student
wants to retake a test to improve their grade, just let me know. They are welcome
to retake tests during read aloud or recess.
Here is what we are doing in class this week:
Reading/Writing: This week we will be continuing our DRAs.
We will also continue practicing our plays. We will be performing our plays the
last week of school. I will let you know the exact date and time when it is
officially scheduled with the office. Our homework is spelling list #29 with suffixes.
Students should still be spending 20 minutes studying their words this week. They
should also be reading 20 minutes a night and filling out their reading logs.
Math: This week we will continue reviewing for the SAGE
test. We started a fun review game last week called Mario Math to review our
lowest 10 concepts from the whole year. We will continue playing this until we
are done with our SAGE test.
Social Studies: This week in social studies we will finish talking
about the government. Then we will study for our cumulative test a bit together
in class. Students should be studying their study guide at home for this test
as well. My class will take the test on May 15th and Mrs. Frost’s
class will take it on May 16th. I have sent a link to a Quizlet to
students that they can play games and study flash cards for this test. I also
have the study guide on my blog: http://mrswheatleysfourthgrade.blogspot.com/2017/04/social-studies-cumulative-review-study.html
This week’s homework:
Read 20 mins each day and fill out a pink reading log
Spelling #29 – 20 mins study
Chapter 10 Extra Practice P203-204, Chapter 13 Extra
Practice P257-258
Study for Social Studies Cum. Test
*Math, reading, and spelling are due on Friday
Thanks!
Mrs. Wheatley
