Dear Parents,
Last week was amazing! It was my birthday and your sweet
wonderful kids threw me surprise party! Everyone was so kind and so sweet! I
feel so grateful to have your wonderful students in my class! I’m sure they get
their sweetness from you guys!
Here is what we are doing in class this week:
Reading: This week we will be focusing again on theme again.
We will also review for the DRA. We will do a practice DRA in guided reading
groups and then we will start doing DRA tests next week. Our homework is spelling
list #27 with homophones Students should still be spending 20 minutes studying
their words this week. They should also be reading 20 minutes a night and
filling out their reading logs.
Math: This week we will be taking our last math test! Monday
will be our math test and then we will spend the rest of the week reviewing
what we have learned this year. We will be making a folder and a flipbook to review
each of the concepts we have learned this year.
Writing: This week we will finishing our Porquois tales. We
will focus on finishing our books and illustrating them. We will be sharing
them with the class. These are due next Monday May 1.
Science: Students will be teaching the class this week about
a specific part of the rock cycle that they studied with a group. Students will
also take another version of the UT environments test as good practice and
review. (No need to stress about it!)
Social Studies: This week in social studies we will continue
learning about the economy. We will focus on the economy in Utah and different
jobs people have in Utah. We will also start studying for our end of the year
Social Studies test. Students will be given a study guide this week in class.
We will study a little in school but students should mostly be studying at
home. If students know everything on the study guide, they will do great on the
test! The questions on the test come directly from the study guide.
This week’s homework:
Read 20 mins each day and fill out a pink reading log
Spelling #27 – 20 mins study
Lesson 8.1- P157, 8.2- P159, 8.3- P161, 8.5- P165
*Math, reading, and spelling are due on Friday
